Venice finally cooling down
This series was taken in March 2022 as part of a short and lonely trip to Venice, right between Carnival and the Biennale of Contemporary Art. I saw this vibrant city having a rest, far away from its touristic purpose.
Having shunned the crowds for so long, the locals finally take to the streets and quays. Time stops, still punctuated by lonely strolls along the banks of Cannaregio and the changing light that transcends the city. Before 4 p.m., a sharp light highlights an unique panorama, both ancient and immaculate, which seems to have been built from scratch to welcome spectators and feed their fantasies.
But when calm returns to the city, everyone can decide whether to be immersed in the sun or to get lost in the tranquillity of darker streets. Until the orange veil of evening, the banality of everyday Venetian life melts into a film set.
